How to start:
1. Install either WinZip or 7zip (or your OS' equivalent) if you don't have it.
2. Extract the entire Captivity folder to somewhere on your PC.
3. Double click Game.exe to start the game.
Updating & old saves:
Old saves can be used in newer versions unless otherwise stated. Just copy your old save folder into the newer version's folder.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED NOT TO CARRY OLD SAVES OVER TO THE NEW VERSIONS IN PRE-BUILDS OR THINGS'LL LIKELY BREAK
Controls:
Arrow keys - movement
Shift - hold down to dash/sprint/run
Z - Interact/OK/Accept
X - Menu/Cancel/Back
W - Fast forward text (the PgDn button)
~/tilde - Debug room access
Can be configured in the options menu
FAQ:
Q: Why do NPCs become invisible during cutscenes?
A: Fast forwarding sometime causes NPCs to become invisible. They don't cause any other bugs other than making NPCs invisible as far as I can tell. So feel free to fast forward if you watched a cutscene before and just want to skip it.
Q: Why do everyone look stretched out?
A: They're placeholders. They'll be replaced eventually.
Q: The maps look like shit.
A: Placeholders.
Q: Why doesn't h-scene's 2 CGs have any color?
A: It's not painted yet and I can't paint it until I replace my graphics card.

Q: How to enable debug room access?
A: 1. Head to Captivity\www folder
2. Edit the txt file debugconfig.txt
3. Change DebugAccessEnabled=false to DebugAccessEnabled=true
This is set to true by default in pre v0.1.0 versions
Do I need to have prebuilds/versions downloaded in order to get a newer one to work? Before I had issues getting the new version to work though not sure if it was because I deleted my older versions before downloading a new one.
ReplyDeleteIf the issue you have is one where it doesn't run because of TimeHudA.png or something it's because that build in particular is literally broken. Build 4.1 and above shouldn't have that issue anymore. The latest as of now is 4.4. Let me know if you have any problems launching it.
DeleteSorry if I'm being dumb, but I can't seem to figure this out. Does the current build have anything else past the intro? I can't seem to find anything else to do, I try entering the city and get told that the game ends here.
